Senior Ashley Forsyth was named to the BIG EAST Softball Honor Roll, posting a 2-2 record with a 1.46 ERA and 31 strikeouts, compared to just four walks in 24 innings of work. Forsyth tossed a perfect game and struck out 17 of the 21 batters she faced, setting a new school record, in a 7-0 victory over St. Peter's on April 8. She became just the fourth pitcher in school history to toss a perfect game, and is just one of three hurlers to throw a perfect game and a no-hitter in her career. She had a string of nine consecutive strikeouts from the second to fourth innings, struck out the side four times during the game, and did not allow a hit-ball out of the infield. The tri-captain was also key in helping the Pirates pick up their first two BIG EAST wins of the season, earning a win and a save during SHU's doubleheader at St. John's on Saturday. Forsyth threw a two-hit, complete game shutout in a 4-0 victory in the series opener. With two runners on and no outs, she was called to come out of the bullpen and picked up a key strikeout and induced the game-ending double play in a 3-2 victory.
