Track & Field Runs at Kansas Invitational


LAWRENCE Kan. - The Seton Hall track & field teams continued outdoor competition at the Kansas Invitational over the weekend. The Pirates will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. this Thursday, April 22 for the prestigious Penn Relays.


Freshman Janay Mitchell (Teaneck, N.J.) posted an ECAC standard mark of 12.06 in the preliminary heats of the 100-meter dash.


In the finals of the women's 200-meter dash, senior Toneisha Friday (Somerset, N.J.) finished third with a BIG EAST qualifying time of 24.82. Her teammate, Louise Faye (Thiais, France) placed fifth, clocking in at 25.17.


Sophomore Charisse Bryant (Virginia Beach, Va.) ran a BIG EAST time of 14.71 in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles to place seventh.


Junior Alexandra Hehn (Toms River, N.J.) just missed an ECAC qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles, but did secure a berth at the BIG EAST's with a 1:02.68 to place seventh.


The women's sprint medley relay team of Mitchell, Krista Simkins (Wissahicken, Pa.), Nijgia Snapp (Mays Landing, N.J.), and KeAira Dickerson (Wilmington, Del.) won their race, posting a time of 4:00.30.


The women's 4x400-meter relay took third place and hit a time of 3:40.92. The quartet consisted of Faye, Friday, Snapp, and Dickerson.


Junior Chris Cox (Manahawkin, N.J.) clocked in at 21.96 in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash to earn a BIG EAST Championship berth.


In the men's 400-meter dash, senior Carl Smith (Camden, N.J.) ran a BIG EAST qualifying time of 48.85 in the prelims of the competition.


The men's sprint medley relay team of Antonio Reynolds (Orlando, Fla.), Smith, Cox, and Dorian Ellerbe (South Orange, N.J.) ran a time of 3:31.98 to finish second.


The men's 4x100-meter relay team comprised of Sean Schnarr (Somerset, N.J.), Reynolds, Smith, and Cox turned in a 41.60 time for a seventh place finish at a spot at the ECAC Championships.


The men's 4x400-meter squad also ran a strong race, placing third with a time of 3:08.97 to improve its ECAC Championship standing. The team was made up of Sean Morris (Burlington, N.J.), Smith, Kamar Ellis (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Cox.
