CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Seton Hall women’s track & field team placed 10th, while the men took 11th at the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships over the weekend. Senior Louise Faye (Thiais, France) won the triple jump and the women’s 4x400-meter relay team each earned victories for the Hall.
Faye hit a mark of 12.39 meters, and is the first Pirate to win the triple jump.
The women’s 4x400-meter team was comprised of Faye, Krista Simkins (Wissahicken, Pa.), Nijgia Snapp (Mays Landing, N.J.), and Jernail Hayes (Newark, Del.). The quartet ran a time of 3:37.24, setting a new stadium record.
Individually, Hayes placed third in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 11.68. Hayes also took eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.44.
In the women’s 400-meter dash, the Pirates had three runners score for the team. Snapp was the runner-up, completing the lap in 53.97. Senior Toneisha Friday (Somerset, N.J.) followed in third with a time of 54.12. Faye took seventh, hitting a time of 58.13.
Junior KeAira Dickerson (Wilmington, Del.) placed eighth in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 58.35.
The women’s 4x100-meter relay also had a strong showing, placing fifth (46.84). The team consisted of Brittany Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio), Simkins, Janay Mitchell (Teaneck, N.J.), and Hayes.
On the men’s side, junior Chris Cox (Manahawkin, N.J.) placed second in the 400-meter dash, running a 46.57.
Senior Carl Smith (Camden, N.J.) finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles after posting a time of 53.12.
The men’s 4x400-meter relay of Sean Morris (Burlington, N.J.), Smith, Kamar Ellis (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and Cox finished in second place (3:08.68).
The men’s 4x100 relay took sixth with a 41.35. The squad was made of Antonio Reynolds (Orlando, Fla.), Thomas Brown, Smith, and Cox.
