Registration Open for Summer Sports Camps at Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - School is almost out, summer is right around the corner and that can only mean one thing...camp season at The Hall!

In 2012, Seton Hall will be offering six different sport-themed camps throughout the summer, each providing a number of great opportunities to learn and stay fit while experiencing SHU's beautiful South Orange campus.  

SHU sports camps are an ideal way to meet new friends and stay active during the summer months. Don't miss your chance to come out and hone your skills under the tutelage of the Seton Hall coaching staff and student-athletes.

Team Camp Jamboree Saturday, June 16
MVP Training Camp Sunday, June 17, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Day Camp Monday, July 18 - Friday, July 22, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. (extended hours to 5 p.m.)

The Anne Donovan Basketball Camps provide campers of all skill levels a variety of opportunities to receive instruction from Seton Hall women's basketball head coach and Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame member Anne Donovan as well as the rest of the SHU staff and team members. The MVP Training Camp allows for 1-on-1 personal attention in a drill-intensive, ability-building atmosphere. The Day Camp features a heavy focus on promoting fundamentals and is perfect for those looking to improve their basic skills in a fun-filled setting.

Think you have the best team in the area? Prove it between the lines at the Team Camp Jamboree. Your team will be guaranteed at least three games against the best squads in the region.

Session I (Ages 8-17) - Monday, June 25 - Thursday, June 28
Session II (Ages 5-entering 6th grade) - Monday, July 9 - Thursday, July 12
* Both sessions run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

Back for its third year, the Kevin Willard Basketball Camp gives both boys and girls the chance to learn from SHU head coach Kevin Willard and his staff along with the rest of the Pirates in a fun, competitive environment. Campers will undergo skill-based instruction, receive lectures from collegiate and professional basketball personnel and participate in competitions all under the watchful eyes of some of the brightest basketball minds in the area.

Established in 1974 by Seton Hall Coach Emeritus Mike Sheppard Sr., Mike Sheppard's Hustler's Baseball School is the oldest continuously run baseball school in the area. Under the instruction of Seton Hall coaches and some of the top high school coaches in the region, attendees are provided with an understanding of the right way to play the game of baseball and how to conduct themselves off the field as young men and prospective student-athletes. Players will receive individual and group instruction as part of a developed regimen aimed at aiding their progress as an individual and as a member of a team.

* Daily schedule features a 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. session followed by a 2nd session from 7:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

This is your chance to be a part of a new era in Seton Hall soccer. First-year head coach and former Pirate great, Gerson Echeverry and his staff bring a wealth of professional playing and coaching experience and an exciting style of play to South Orange. Echeverry and his assistants boast extensive experience coaching at the national, professional and collegiate levels and are sure to provide an atmosphere that emphasizes the technical skills needed to become a more polished, productive soccer player.

Monday, July 30 - Wednesday, August 1
*All-Skills Camp (Grades 9-12):  9 a.m. - 3 p.m., daily
*Junior Pirate Camp (Grades 5-8): 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., daily (includes open swim)

Directed by new Seton Hall coach Allie Yaeger along with assistant coach and former SHU standout Allie Matters, the Seton Hall Volleyball Camp delivers a comprehensive experience with an emphasis on skill technique, position work and specialized drills. The camp also features an additional focus on competitive team play, doubles and triples competition and team building activities. Along with Yaeger and Matters, campers will receive instruction from a staff comprised of Seton Hall players, past and present, as well as other coaches with collegiate backgrounds. With a 7:1 player-to-coach ratio, the SHU Volleyball Camp is a great place to receive individualized instruction and have some fun in the process.

With a daily schedule full of a wide-ranging variety of activities, Pirate Sports Camp is designed for the camper looking to have fun and try new things. An experienced staff fosters a structured environment that encourages participation and fitness while providing attendees with the opportunity to try their hand at a number of different activities. The goal of the camp is to promote core values of cooperation, friendship, honesty and positive self-esteem. Activities include basketball, floor hockey, kickball, soccer, swimming and even arts & crafts!
