GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Seton Hall track & field teams sent several runners to the NCAA East Regionals this weekend, and two individuals will advanced to the semifinals to extend their seasons.
Senior Jernail Hayes (Newark, Del.) advanced to the semifinals of the women's 400-meter hurdles after winning her heat in 57.70 to post the eighth fastest time of the prelims.
Junior Chris Cox (Manahawkin, N.J.) will continue competition in the men's 400-meter dash after running a time of 46.37 on Thursday. His effort placed him third in his heat and was the 17th fastest qualifying time.
Senior Carl Smith (Camden, N.J.) ran a 53.15 in the 400-meter hurdles, which put him 36th at the conclusion of the preliminary heats. Freshman Nijgia Snapp (Mays Landing, N.J.) and Toneisha Friday (Somerset, N.J.) each ran in the 400-meter dash preliminary rounds. Snapp turned in a 56.08, while Friday ran a 55.30.
Hayes and Cox will run on Friday with hopes of advancing to the finals of their respective events, and earning a spot at the NCAA Championships next weekend. The men's and women's 4x400-meter relay teams will compete on Saturday.
