Playing in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League this summer, rising sophomore outfielder John Beaubien knocked his way to an All-Star selection after anchoring the middle of the lineup for the DC Grays for the 2012 season. Beaubien led the Grays with a gaudy .366 batting average. The Livingston native also belted eight home runs and drove in 21 runs over the 39-game season. Fellow Pirate and rising senior Mike Genovese, who also hails from Livingston, also earned All-Star honors for the Grays.

Founded in 2005, the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League is a wooden bat summer program made up of amateur players from a wide variety of colleges and universities from throughout the United States.  The league is regionally located in the Baltimore/Washington, DC metropolitan area.
