Pirate Blue members, alumni and friends gathered at Spring Lake Golf Club in Spring Lake, N.J. on Monday, August 8 for the 25th Annual Pirate Blue Golf Outing. Over $30,000 was raised to support Seton Hall Athletics and it's over 200 student-athletes.
This year's event was a sell out with over 140 participants for golf and dinner. Golfers took to the course in the early afternoon which was followed by a cocktail reception and dinner.
President, Gabriel A. Esteban welcomed all of the attendees and thanked them for their support of Pirate Blue. Athletic Director, Patrick Lyons was also gracious for the support all have shown towards Seton Hall Athletics and encouraged their increased participation.
"All of our Pirate Blue members play a critical role in our commitment to improve Seton Hall Athletics and the lives of our exceptional student-athletes," stated Lyons. "We need all of our members to not only help us financially, but through overall support in recruiting friends and classmates to get involved, attend events and purchase tickets."
Head women's basketball coach, Anne Donovan and head men's basketball coach, Kevin Willard also addressed the crowd to preview their upcoming seasons and promote the support of fans attending both women's and men's home games.
Later in the evening awards were presented to the day's top golfers. On the women's side, Josephine Finelli took home the prize for Low Net (calloway) with a 76 and former Seton Hall women's basketball coach and Athletic Director, Sue Regan, took home first prize for low gross with an 89. On the men's side, Bob Burke walked away with first place low net (calloway) with a 71 and James Bosworth '94 finished in first low gross with a 69.
Overall the top foursome prize (net) went to Zack Alcorn, Peter Barba, Ed Shannon and Carl Timpanaro.
