SHUPirates.com Athlete of the Week (September 4, 2012)
Ashley Clarke, Women's Soccer
Junior Ashley Clarke affirmed her position as a key cog in the Pirates' attack last week, tallying two points in each of SHU's victories as the team extended its win streak to five matches. Against Monmouth, Clarke twice provided the final service that lead to a Seton Hall goal, assisting on both first half scores by sophomore midfielder Kristina Meier. Later in the week, the Paramus native played the role of hero as she put the finishing touches on a thrilling comeback in a win over visiting Delaware. Following a second half equalizer from Marie Klemme that sent the game into overtime, Clarke wasted no time in the extra period, pouncing on an early chance and scoring an opportunistic winner. The goal came just over a minute following the restart and sent the Pirates home with five wins in their first five matches. The third-year midfielder earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll and stands as the team's leading scorer with seven points to this point in the year.
