SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Joseph A. Quinlan, Jr., Seton Hall University's Director of Athletics and Recreational Services, announced Friday that he will resign effective October 8.
Quinlan was hired at Seton Hall on Sept. 26, 2005.
"I am proud of what we have accomplished over the last five years," Quinlan said. "We've dramatically improved our athletics facilities, including renovations to Owen T. Carroll Field, the opening of the Jack & Charlotte Lavery Coaching Center, and moving the men's basketball program to the Prudential Center. Both of our basketball programs are on strong footing."
Patrick E. Hobbs, Seton Hall Dean of the Law School, who has been overseeing the Athletics Department since July, stated that Deputy Director of Athletics Duane Bailey and Senior Associate Athletics Director Ginger Fulton will oversee the day-to-day operations of the department until a new athletics director is hired. The University will launch a national search for an athletics director in January 2011.
"We are thankful for Joe's leadership over the last five years," Hobbs said. "His work has provided the Athletics Department with a solid foundation for future success. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."
Quinlan is resigning to pursue other opportunities.
"I want to thank the student-athletes for their commitment and our staff for their hard work and dedication towards the advancement of Seton Hall Athletics," Quinlan said.
