Herb Pope, Men's Basketball
Senior Herb Pope was named BIG EAST Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday. It is the first list of honorees for the 2011-12 season and takes into account all games played so far this season. Pope averaged 22.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game while guiding Seton Hall to a 3-1 season start and a second place finish at the 2011 Charleston Classic. The 6-foot-8 power forward recorded double-doubles in the team's first three games including a 21-point, 14-rebound performance in a season-opening overtime victory against St. Francis (N.Y.). Pope is the current active leader among all BIG EAST players with 22 career double-doubles. Most recently, he erupted for a career-high 32 points on an efficient 14-of-17 shooting vs. Northwestern in the title game of the Charleston Classic. Pope also grabbed nine rebounds and collected two steals and two blocks in a strong all-around effort.
