Pirate Fans Fuel Team Walker Toy Drive Success

The Team Walker Toy Drive conducted at the recent men's basketball home games vs. UMASS and VMI at Prudential Center were a major success.  Over 300 youngsters will be receiving presents at the Team Walker Holiday Party on Friday, Dec. 18 at PS 22 School in Jersey City.

"I want to thank all of the fans who brought toys and donated money to our toy drive," said Walker, who runs the non-profit organization and has a place in Pirate basketball history by leading the team to three NCAA appearances.  "The Athletic Department and Pirate Blue have been exceptionally kind to Team Walker.  From the bottom of my heart and on behalf to all of the kids, I have to say a huge thank you to everyone."

Team Walker is a 501C non-profit organization that was founded by Jerry's grandfather - James "Pop" Curry.  He has carried on the family tradition and runs an after-school tutoring program for kids along with a summer program among its many activities.  For more information, go to: www.teamwalker.org.
