Ryan Westman joined the office of Academic Services as an Academic Advisor in August, 2011. He serves as the academic advisor for six of Seton Hall University's varsity athletic programs: men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's cross country, women's soccer and men's golf.
Westman is also responsible for overseeing the office's tutoring program, which provides one-on-one appointments as well as drop-in hours for all student-athletes. He is also a mentor for Freshman Studies and teaches four sections of the CORE 1001 class to incoming freshmen during the fall semester.
Prior to coming to Seton Hall, Westman spent two years as a graduate assistant in the office of Student Life at his alma mater, Rutgers University. In that role he created and implemented marketing efforts for presentations to first-year and transfer students to aid recruitment for the Rising Leaders Institute Program. He also helped coordinate and execute the Rutgers '66 Leadership Conference, 14 leadership development workshops for undergraduates, and served as an advisor for 14 student organizations.
Westman also spent one semester as a graduate intern in the Student-Athlete Development Office at Rutgers and one year as a graduate intern with TRiO, Student-Support Services.
He received his Masters of Education in Elementary Education from Rutgers in 2007 and completed his Masters of Education in College Student Affairs in 2011.
As an undergraduate Westman spent four years as a student-athlete for Rutgers track & field team, serving as a team captain for the program's first-ever BIG EAST and IC4A Championship teams. He was also a three-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star.
Westman currently resides in Somerset, N.J.
