AD Newsletter - June 2016
Congratulations to Our New Graduates
Last month, our senior class of 2016 had the day it has been waiting for - commencement at Prudential Center. Congratulations to our 40+ seniors whose hard work and effort culminated in the special moment of receiving a diploma in front of their family and friends and among their peers. It is very satisfying to us as a department to see our student-athletes reach the goal that we set for them from day one.
I cannot wait to hear from our graduates on the exciting new chapters of their lives whether it's a new and exciting job, an opportunity to play their sport professionally or the continuation of their education in graduate, law and/or medical school.
Please take a moment to view some pictures of our graduates in this photo gallery, and congratulations again to all our student-athletes on this momentous achievement!
Hall of Fame
Last week, we formally inducted five new members into our Athletics Hall of Fame, and we had an amazing turnout in support of Kristen Downing, Andre McCloud, Father Frank McNulty, George Nazario and Tom Sharkey. It was truly a great day of golf and celebration with Pirates past and present.
Pirate Blue will be traveling around New Jersey with its annual Summer Caravan, which actually begins tonight with a local stop at Ricalton's right here in South Orange.
The caravan is a great opportunity to connect with Seton Hall coaches and fellow supporters. The event tonight is FREE admission plus free appetizers and a cash bar, and you'll have the opportunity to take pictures with our men's & women's basketball BIG EAST trophies!
Be sure to register for tonight as well as our three following caravan events, June 24 at Monmouth Park Racetrack, June 25 at Bar Anticipation and our annual Pirate Blue Golf Outing Aug. 1. All details and registration links are available here.
The construction on the lobby of the Richie Regan Athletic & Recreation Center is full steam ahead as we have vacated the administrative offices and closed off a significant portion of the lobby to allow for progress. As you can see, we are undergoing a dramatic facelift, and we're excited to have the finished product this fall when we unveil our new Hall of Fame.
One Shirt, One Body Initiative
I'm very proud to share that our student-athletes did a tremendous job with their One Shirt One Body initiative, collecting over 250 shirts and then donating them to the Speedway Academy in Newark. This small gesture goes a long way as they have made many children excited to put on an authentic Seton Hall Athletics shirt. It's another example of our Pirates giving back!
Giving Before End of Fiscal Year
All the wonderful student-athlete accomplishments, construction updates and the good news that we share would not be possible without the support of our Pirate Blue members. As the end of the fiscal year approaches, I want to reinforce that message and hope that if you have not yet made a gift to Pirate Blue this year, you'll consider making one before June 30. If you have already contributed this fiscal year, we welcome any additional support you can afford and encourage you to recruit friends and family to become Pirate Blue members. We are approaching a record amount in fundraising this year, and with your support, we can reach that goal. You can make your tax-deductible gift now by clicking here.
