SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The latest phase of the Pride & Excellence Campaign is well underway. Most notably, the new varsity locker room project has significantly progressed since construction commenced in July. Considered a focal point of the multi-million dollar overhaul of the Richie Regan Athletic Center, when the locker rooms are completed in December each of the Pirates' 14 teams will have a sport specific space for the first time in program history.
The new varsity locker rooms will also complement the recently opened state-of-the-art Center for Sports Medicine and Charles W. Doehler Academic Center for Excellence and contributes to the department's objective to provide top tier resources to Seton Hall student-athletes.
"The generous support of our Pirate Blue donors has enabled us to take great strides in recent years to enhance the student-athlete experience," said Patrick Lyons, Director of Athletics. "The Pride & Excellence Campaign has assisted in making our vision a reality in delivering premier resources to our student-athletes in order to achieve excellence on and off the field of play. There are certainly more facility advancements on the horizon, but we believe the locker room project is a pillar in reshaping the landscape of Seton Hall Athletics."
Each of the rooms will feature personalized lockers, coaching areas, Seton Hall branded graphics and the latest audio/visual equipment for team meetings. The spaces have already been framed and in the near future walls will be erected with furniture and equipment to be installed soon after.
Naming opportunities within each of the locker rooms are still available as part of the Pride & Excellence Campaign. For more information contact Jay Judge at (973) 275-2202 or via email at Jay.Judge@shu.edu .
In addition to locker rooms, a brand-new performance training center/varsity weight room and a team video room are also under construction. The performance training center/varsity weight room is tripling in size and will feature branded free-weights, platforms, benches, sprint track and cardio equipment. Built in amphitheater style the team video room will be equipped with the latest projection and surround sound systems and can accommodate 40 in custom leather seats.
The Pride & Excellence Campaign has played a key role in contributing to significant improvements within the Richie Regan Athletic Center over the past two years. Within this time frame, Seton Hall Athletics & Recreation Services has undergone a major facelift. In addition to the center for sports medicine and academic center, a brand new 12,000 square foot two-tier fitness center benefitting the entire university opened in January while a new LED scoreboard was installed at Owen T. Carroll Field in March 2013.
