Warren, Manthorpes Receive Honors

MILWAUKEE, WIS. - Junior Alyssa Warren (Joliet, Ill.) was named BIG EAST Libero of the Year and sophomore Shelbey Manthorpe (Merion Station, Pa.) earned First Team All-BIG EAST status at the conference's annual Championship Banquet Thursday evening in Milwaukee.

Stacey Manthorpe (Merion Station, Pa.) was named Second Team All-BIG EAST.  Warren also received Second Team All-BIG EAST recognition.

One of the marquee defensive players of the conference, Warren becomes Seton Hall's first BIG EAST Libero of the Year.  The BIG EAST leader with 5.88 digs per game, she ranked ninth in the nation and recorded 16 matches of 20+ digs in 2012.  Warren recorded double-digit digs in all 15 BIG EAST games this year to set a conference record.  Always reliable, Warren played every set for the Pirates this season and moved into sole possession of second place on Seton Hall's career dig list.  Her 42 digs at Connecticut on Oct. 28 was the high for any BIG EAST player this season.  Warren's 40 digs vs. Villanova was the second-most.

Shelbey Manthorpe becomes only the seventh player in Seton Hall history to earn First Team honors.  This is the second All-BIG EAST honor she's received as she was named to the Second Team last year.  Manthorpe tallied eight triple-doubles and a team-best 19 double-doubles this season.  Selected to the All-Tournament Teams at the Maryland, Seton Hall and Carmichael Invitationals, she was named to the BIG EAST's Weekly Honor Roll six times, including five straight weeks.  The team's primary setter, Manthorpe led the Pirates in assists and was second on the team in kills, digs and hitting percentage.  She was third in blocks.

Stacey Manthorpe was the top offensive threat for the Pirates in 2012, leading the team in kills and kills per set.  A two-time member of the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, she was named Most Valuable Player of both the Carmichael and Seton Hall Invitationals.  Manthorpe trailed only her sister for the team lead in double-doubles, finishing one behind with an impressive 17 on the season.
